Stock Market Holiday: BSE and NSE Closed Today for Independence Day
Stock Market Update: On Wednesday, the 30-share BSE Sensex gained 150 points, or 0.19%, ending at 79,106, while the broader NSE Nifty index increased by 5 points, or 0.02%, closing at 24,144.

Indian equity benchmarks will be closed on Thursday, August 15, in observance of Independence Day, according to the BSE website. The closure includes the equity segment, equity derivative segment, and the Security Lending and Borrowing (SLB) segment. Additionally, the Currency Derivatives segment will also be shut in celebration of both Independence Day and Parsi New Year.
